Student Aid
Nebraska District financial support is available to anyone preparing for full-time service in the church. Applicants must be enrolled at a Concordia University System school; Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne; or Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Applicants must hold membership at a Nebraska District congregation, demonstrate financial need, and have completed their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The Concordia University System consists of the 6 LCMS-operated universities. Application forms may be printed from the link at the right or requested from the universities and seminaries. The deadline for completing the application process is May 1 for the first semester and December 1 for the second semester. Only one application is needed per academic year.

LCEF Nebraska District College Scholarship
What is the Nebraska District College Scholarship?
The Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) Nebraska District College Scholarship was developed to encourage college students in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Nebraska District to pursue their educational goals. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to at least one applicant.
Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA or current full-time post-secondary student at an accredited institution with at least one year of courses remaining and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicant must also be a member of a congregation belonging to the LCMS located in the Nebraska District.

LWML Nebraska North Scholarships
The LWML Nebraska North provides scholarships for students preparing for careers in full-time church work on the basis of residence in the LWML North region, financial need, and full-time enrollment in the Concordia Education System. The Nebraska District Student Aid Committee administers these grants, and the application is the same as the District Aid Application Form. That form may be obtained from the financial aid offices of the universities and seminaries, or from the link above, with May 1 and December 1 deadlines.
LWML Nebraska South Scholarships
The LWML Nebraska South offers assistance to students from the LWML Nebraska South region who are going into full-time church work. Information and applications may be obtained from the student’s local LWML society, or at www.lwmlnesouth.org. Completed applications are due June 1.
The Nebraska District Lutheran Laymen's League Scholarships
The Nebraska District Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL) provides scholarships for students studying for full-time church work, including pastor, DCE, DCM, deaconess, liturgical arts, and education. Applications for the current school year are now available. For more information, guidelines, and an application, click on the links below and print and complete the forms. The Gil and Blondie Vogt Scholarship Fund
The Gil and Blondie Vogt Scholarship Fund is designed to assist Nebraska students preparing for LCMS church vocations at any LCMS university or seminary. An applicant for this scholarship must be a current resident of Nebraska; a member of an LCMS congregation; pursuing educational training in preparation for an LCMS-related vocational position; attend a LCMS college, university or seminary; demonstrate a substantial financial need; and must not be in a vicarage year at seminary.
Requests for an application can be made after January 1 for the following school year. Application deadline is April 15.

After you graduate: Resources to assist with church worker education debt & finances
Church workers are eligible to apply if they are: rostered Nebraska LCMS church workers who are members in good standing of a Nebraska LCMS congregation; full-time workers who have incurred higher education debt while in pursuit of their professional church work degree; currently full-time church workers who have completed at least one year of full-time church work as a member of the Nebraska District.
Concordia Plan Servicess has a tool available for church workers who are paying off student loans and resources to help church workers better understand personal finance and plan for retirement, including webinars through their Financial Education Series.
In addition, church workers are encouraged to learn more about MinistryFocus, an RSO of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod that believes that the realities of educational debt negatively and irreparably harm ministries and congregations.
