“Suicide & the Church: Caring Conversations & Resources” with Rev. Dr. Justin Hannemann

Many are struggling in our age.  Mental illness, divorce, despair, social unrest, and a breakdown of relationships have left many feeling isolated and without hope. This Webinar will explore how the church can respond to these realities and the mental illness and suicide that often result.  It is intended for both professional church workers and lay leaders.  It will focus on practical steps and resources that will be helpful for “front lines” work in these arenas.
Presenter: Rev. Dr. Justin Hannemann, CEO of GracePoint Institute for Relational Health and District executive for Church Worker Care.

“Suicide Prevention Workshop: Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)” with Kathyrine L’Heureux

Learn three steps that can help prevent suicide. People trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year. The same is for people trained in QPR. We are better able to help people in a mental health crisis when we learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide risk, and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Learn ways to be there for a friend, family member, co-worker, and others.

Presenter: Kathyrine L’Heureux, PLMHP, Director of Counseling at Concordia University Nebraska
