Leadership Learning Communities (LLC) create environments for pastors to practice learning, change, and growth while also practicing postures of Christian community. These communities address the need for intentional, ongoing pastoral formation beyond the Seminary years.

Leadership Learning Communities offer church workers in the Nebraska District LCMS a chance to learn and grow as individuals and as a group. Dr. Vanessa Seifert, serving the Church as a director of Christian education, creates customized leadership development for pastors and church workers. The LLC process includes peer group sessions with fellow pastors and individual coaching sessions with Dr. Vanessa Seifert. Learn more at vanessaseifert.com/learning-communities.html.

Why Consider Leadership Learning Communities?

  • A healthy practice of life together

  • Faith/Life integration through practicing Sabbath rhythms
  • Enhanced team ministry practices with church workers and lay leaders
  • Practicing discipleship postures with a trusted few

Pastors who have particpated say:

“I see the importance of bringing others along on this journey along with the requirement for patience and opportunities for questions and learning on their part to see what I see as important for themselves, and to allow them the same grace as I depend on.”

“I am learning slowly. Part of my learning is self-awareness. From that self-awareness comes openness to new ways of thinking, and even questioning why I have assumed some mindsets in the past. From new thinking comes steps towards new habits, all of which are imperfect, but still worth it.”

“So, in short, Sabbath is a gift I am receiving with a limp in my stride. I am not perfect, but I am practicing, and the more I practice, the more I recognize the gift and desire to practice it more.”

Four pastors who have participated in a Leadership Learning Community discussed their experiences in a video for our 2022 District Convention.
