Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
What an incredible responsibility that God has placed into our hands as His body, living out the compassion and love of our Heavenly Father. What a wonderful promise that He is with us every step of the way.
God calls each of us to grow in grace and service. First, we receive His faith and all the gifts which accompany it. Then, in turn, “as we go along our way,” we reach out to others with His grace and care. This work is for each one of us in our own family and community. We also join together to do this work through those who serve in our stead in places we can’t personally reach.
One of those mission fields is the campus communities across Nebraska. Individual congregations are a part of this work on every college campus across our state. Together as congregations of the Nebraska District, we financially support campus ministry in Omaha, Wayne, Kearney, and Lincoln. This month we celebrate the installation of Rev. Michael Giddings as the new campus pastor at University Chapel in Lincoln.
On all of these campuses, we seek to care for and strengthen the faith of those students coming from our Nebraska congregations. We also know that these campuses are “white for harvest,” so we seek to reach out to those who need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your support in this important mission field and please join us, if you can, for the installation of Pastor Michael Giddings.
In Christ,
Rev. Richard Snow, President, Nebraska District LCMS
