Position Summary
The Project Manager will support the launch and leadership of the pilot phase of Nebraska District Lay Formation, currently in development and scheduled to begin in January 2027. This position is responsible for managing project schedules, deadlines, communication, and process documentation that will guide the long-term development of the Lay Formation process.
Working closely with the Lay Formation Launch Team, the Project Manager will operate within a build–measure–learn framework, ensuring the process is continually evaluated and refined. Additional responsibilities include overseeing registration and evaluation processes and serving as the primary point of contact for participants and prospective participants.
This part-time role has the potential to grow as the Lay Formation and other District projects, initiatives, and processes expand. Pending program needs and funding, there is potential for this position to transition to full-time in future years.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationships:
- Collaborate with the Lay Formation Launch Team
- Coordinate with Lay Formation Guides and Elective Instructors
- Serve as primary support and contact for Lay Formation participants
- Communication:
- Prepare and distribute promotional materials, invitations, and program updates
- Organize and distribute elective course materials
- Maintain, update, and communicate project timelines and key milestones
- District Activities:
- Attend and participate in conventions, conferences, workshops and other District events as requested
- Assist in planning and coordination of District activities related to Lay Formation
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Director of Christian Education/Ministries, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management or a similar role, preferably in a church, nonprofit, or educational environment
Skills & Competencies
- Self-starter with a passion for learning, developing, and improving systems
- Commitment to continuous evaluation and improvement through a build–measure–learn approach
- Strong project coordination and task management abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with digital learning platforms (e.g., Thinkific), or the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to prepare agendas and facilitate meetings effectively
- Strong documentation skills; able to create processes, tools, and resources for future use
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work on a shared team mission
Working Conditions
- Work environment: Remote work (preference within 50-mile radius of Seward); must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods. Minimal physical demands.
- Equipment: Must provide a reliable phone, internet connection, and personal workstation.
- Travel requirements: Occasional travel required, primarily to Seward, Nebraska, with additional trips for special events as needed.
- Work schedule: Flexible, averaging 15–20 hours per week. Meetings generally occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for events.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience
- Benefits: Concordia Retirement Savings Plan (CRSP 403b) provided for part-time employees. No health benefits are provided for this position.
- Future Growth: As the Lay Formation and other District initiatives develop, this position may expand to full-time depending on program needs and available funding.
