How does the delay of the District Convention affect the nominations process? All current nominations submitted for 2021 will stand. Individuals on the ballot will be contacted to confirm willingness and eligibility to remain on the ballot. Nominations for both processes will reopen for new submissions. Congregations who have submitted their certified nominations for Process #2 (District President/Vice Presidents/Board of Directors) will have opportunity to submit amended nominations. Congregation who did not submit nominations will have opportunity within the new timeline.
Nominations Process 1:
In order to increase the participation in and efficiency of the first nominations and evaluations process, the Nomination Committee will continue with a paperless nomination and evaluation process for the first part of our two part nominations process, starting with the Call for Nominations for District Secretary, Nominations Committee, Constitution Committee, Synod Committee for Convention Nominations, and Board of Regents (Seward). All members of the Nebraska District are encouraged to submit names for consideration. The nominations process for these positions re-opened on July 5, 2021 and closed on October 16, 2021.
Nominations Process 2:
In order to maintain the integrity of the second part of the nominations process, all nominations for District President, District Vice-Presidents, and District Board of Directors will continue to utilize paper forms and require signatures from congregation leaders. Those forms were sent directly to congregations in the fall and should be returned to the District Secretary no later than January 31, 2022. (Please return your ballot to: Rev. B.J. Fouts, St. John Lutheran Church, 306 S 2nd St, Battle Creek, NE 68715, email@example.com. Do not send these forms to the District Office.)
